The school year is winding down and summer vacation will soon be here. For many, it's a short summer filled with activities, sports practices, and family vacations. Why should you consider going to FCA camps? FCA camps offer an opportunity for a student to get away from all the everyday grind of summer and perhaps even boredom and to experience an exciting, fun opportunity to meet other students who share a common bond of sports and FCA and to draw nearer to God without distractions and other interruptions.
Southeast Indiana FCA offers a sports camp that provides tremendous coaching in tennis or softball at a beautiful setting on the IUS campus. Students receive instruction from the head coaches at IUS as well as college level players who will help them improve their game. They will also hear from excellent speakers like Chad Mosteller, the sports chaplain at University of Louisville and will stay in the top-rated IUS lodges. One observation by campers who went to camp last year was that it was great to be competing this year and run into friends that they made in camp last summer and the friendships had continued and there was a common bond despite the competition. New friendships are a wonderful outcome of attending the camps. The camp runs from June 19 through June 22. and is for all students who will be going into 6th-12th grades next fall. Southern Indiana FCA also provides an excellent leadership camp at Rivervale near Mitchell Indiana. This camp is geared toward all the students who are desiring to be leaders in their school's FCA this coming fall or who want to be better leaders on their sports team or perhaps in their church youth group. Rivervale is a 100 year old camp with guys and girls dorm buildings, a swimming pool, ropes course, gaga ball, 9 square, and a host of other activities and games. An outdoor covered amphitheater provides a great setting for our excellent speakers and worship services that will empower the students to be better leaders and give them the tools they need. College athletes will be the huddle leaders who provide small group instruction as well as personal supervision. The date for this three-day camp is July 10-12.
